The long wait for Derwent’s latest brilliant product, Tinted Charcoal Pencils, is finally over. Wet Paint has the full range of 21 colors in open stock; sets of six, twelve & twenty four pencils are available, too.
Tinted Charcoal Pencils are smooth & easy to blend. They have very subtle coloration, just like their graphite pencil predecessors, Derwent Graphitints.
Unlike other chalky type pencils, such as pastel pencils, Tinted Charcoal Pencils can be reduced or erased almost completely. The quiet richness of these pencils makes them an instant staple for the dry media artist.

Caran d’Ache has raised the colored pencil bar several notches with the introduction of Luminance 6901. According to it’s literature, the Luminance line was formulated “in the greatest secrecy in the Geneva workshops.” This pencil is so amazing that it has a top secret recipe!
At the request of the Colored Pencil Society of America, the American Society for Testing & Material (ASTM) has developed a standard to determine the lightfastness level of a colored pencil. Of the 76 colors in the Luminance line, 61 colors have been classified in their best category (Lightfastness I); Caran d’Ache is the only brand to offer this many UV resistant colors!
Further, the Luminance 6901 line carries the Forest Stewardship Council label, guaranteeing that the wood casings of these pencils come from “logging that is environmentally friendly & socially & economically endurable.”
Finally, Luminance 6901 have no wax “bloom”-- the sheen that some colored pencils develop as they are layered.
