The Story of Jack Richeson & Co.
Jack Richeson arrived in the artists’ materials industry after his dreams of becoming an artist were dashed; colorblind, he was asked to leave Art School in the 1950's. Wishing to stay close to artists & support his growing family, he worked his way up to running one of Chicago's leading art supply stores. He went on from there to be National Sales Manager of Grumbacher & later, President of Morilla (now Canson). In 1981 Jack started his namesake company, Jack Richeson & Co. with his son Darren & his wife Ruth (Ruth sadly passed away in 2000). From modest beginnings, the Kimberly, Wisconsin facility is now an employer of over 75 people. As the company grew, so did the number of working family members: today five of Jack’s six children work for the company, while spouses & grandchildren add another ten (or more when school’s out) employees with a Richeson pedigree.
Today the company is the manufacturer of Shiva Oils & Caseins, Daniel Greene Oils, Richeson Pads, and Best Easels & importer of Fine Richeson Brushes, Unison Pastels, Shiva Paintstiks, eco friendly Lyptus Easels, and many other great products.
In 2004 Jack Richeson & Co. broke ground on a 25,000 square foot addition to the building which made room for the Richeson School of Art & Gallery. The art school & gallery are home to a beautiful collection of work & host to an array of workshops, competitions & exhibits each year.
Jack Richeson & Co. has come a long way from its modest beginnings in 1981, but you can be sure that this is only the start. Artists everywhere can rest assured that Jack Richeson is still out there, combing the world for the newest, best & most innovative supplies and, when he finds them, Wet Paint will have them!

The Story of Logan
Back in the 1970’s, Malcolm (Mal) Logan was busy inventing. An engineer by training, his creative mind led him to design & patent various products including coffee makers, aluminum Christmas trees, and metal section frames. Logan Graphic Products began when a friend who sold mat board approached Mal & challenged him to design a better mat cutter for picture framers. That led to the development of the Logan 101 Supreme Framing Mat Cutter, which was designed with innovative features including the squaring arm, mat guide & production stops. Out of that product evolved the Logan handheld mat cutters, which effectively moved Logan into the art materials industry.
While Mal’s expertise helped the Logan product family grow, his own family also grew. Over the years, two sons, M. David & Curt, as well as daughter Cindy, joined the business in various capacities. In 1998, Mal officially retired & son Curt took over as President. Armed with an engineering degree & a lifetime of experience growing the family business, Curt continues to bring innovation & quality design to Logan products.
Almost half a century later, mat cutters continue to be the heart of the Logan business, though the Logan product family has expanded to include Do-it Yourself Framing Tools, Art Deckle Paper Crafting Tools, and the new FoamWerks™ Foamboard Modeling Tools & Accessories. Wet Paint offers a broad selection of Logan products, including the staff favorite 301-S compact mat cutter.

The Story of Artograph

Artograph was founded in Minneapolis in 1947 by 3 entrepreneurs, Ed Hirschoff, John Engle & Les Kouba. It was Mr. Kouba, a promising wild life artist, who suggested developing a projector that would help him enlarge his wild life photos onto a canvas; thus the first Artograph was born. This first projector was built from assorted automobile parts, garage door track, plywood & bellows, all scavenged from a junk shop.
Many variations were created from that first projector, but it was in 1977 when a totally new design in projectors was created. This was the DB300 table top projector-- an instant success & a key tool for artists & designers for over 20 years. Since then, Autograph’s focus has expanded from the
commercial artist & designer towards the distinctive needs of the fine artist & the crafter. A number of new projectors & light boxes have been introduced, providing options for everyone from the hobbyist to the seasoned
professional. Most recently, Artograph has produced a line of metal studio furniture for work & storage.
Sixty years later, Artograph President Don Dow remains committed to the mission of making the creative process more rewarding & productive. Wet Paint is committed to bringing you these fine products from one of our local manufacturers!
