Make Your Own
Holiday Cards!
‘Tis the season for cards, letters and gift tags. Armed with
your creativity, your computer or your personal photographs, homemade
and personalized greetings are a great way to go. And Wet Paint is the
place that can help you to get started.
Strathmore blank greeting cards are the standard for
making your own cards. They are available in announcement cards, regular
cards, watercolor paper, photo cards, and smooth surface stock for rubber
stamping. Strathmore’s new Reserve Collection comes in dark colors with white insides. A more traditional stationery,
the Reserve Collection also comes in gift boxes. Other favorites are
the lama li cards from Nepal which include enclosure
cards and envelopes intheir line. Of course, Wet Paint’s paper
department is stocked with hundreds of full sheet and cut sheet papers
for your special cards or letters. Many cut sheets are laserprinter-compatible.
Don’t forget envelopes! If you can’t find the right one,
try “Stamp Your Art Out” Envelope Templates to make your own.
It wouldn’t be the year 2000 if we didn’t mention vellums.
We’ve got new colored vellums in full sheets as well as new patterns
in printed vellums in cut sheets. Try making your own printed vellums
with Clearsnap’s new Shades of White
stamp pads.
Rubber stamps are a great source of images for cards,
gift tags and gift wrap, too. Or make your own rubber stamp with Speedball’s
Speedy-Stamp Blocks. Of course, lineoleum block printing is a favorite for artists of all ages. If you like printmaking techniques, Print Gocco should be your next addition. This great
little machine turns a xerox into a miniature silkscreen, which prints
multiple colors at one time.
There is always a good feeling associated with creating your own holiday
cards. Whether you’re a novice or experienced cardmaker, you’ll
find Wet Paint an excellent place to find ideas and
materials.
