Wet Paint is very pleased to present a lecture by noted writer, professor, researcher & artist Mark Gottsegen. Mr. Gottsegen will discuss art materials health & safety issues including hazards, definitions, safe use & responsible disposal.
Also featured in his lecture will be an examination of water-thinned paints, including information on standards & a general product review. There will be time for questions & answers at the end of the discussion.
Mr. Gottsegen is the author of the indispensable artists’ reference The Painter’s Handbook.
Mark Golden, CEO of Golden Artist Colors, says “The Painter’s Handbook is without doubt the premier guide to artists’ painting materials,” while Robert Gamblin, founder of Gamblin Artists Colors enthuses “The Painter’s Handbook is the first book I recommend to artists.”
We use The Painter’s Handbook almost daily at Wet Paint, particularly for its exhaustive guide to pigments.
To further the research & dissemination of information that started with his book, Mr. Gottsegen has teamed with Albert Albano to create The Art Materials Information & Education Network, or AMIEN, under whose auspices he will be lecturing.
AMIEN is dedicated to providing, without regard to esthetics, the most comprehensive, up-to-date, accurate & unbiased factual information about artists’ materials.
Beth Bergman, owner of Wet Paint, is on AMIEN’s advisory council alongside other artists, paint makers & conservators. You can visit AMIEN’s website at www.amien.org.
We cannot recommend this discussion enough. Whether a student, professor, novice or professional, please take advantage of this unique opportunity.
