While some companies might be satisfied with having a new line of digital products, GOLDEN pushes ahead and, well, revolutionizes acrylics.
Golden Artist Colors, a company whose name has become synonymous with acrylic paint innovation, has delivered two new lines that will revolutionize the painter’s practice: a series of digital grounds & finishes (read all about them in the digital article) & OPEN Acrylics, a unique range of color & additives with a considerably slower drying than any other polymer paint on the market.
OPEN Acrylics resist skinning & remain wet on the palette for extended periods. Finally there is a highly pigmented, artists’ grade paint whose relaxed working characteristics allow for techniques previously reserved for the oil painter, but with water clean up. The colors are so versatile they can be used like printmaking inks for monoprinting & screenprinting! You can also mix them with traditional acrylics & additives, though the open time will be proportionately reduced.
OPEN Acrylics will be available in 40 colors in 2oz tubes, 4oz & 8oz jars & also in two sets.
Golden has produced three additives to be used with OPEN Acrylics: OPEN Acrylic Gel is the choice for extending color but maintaining viscosity, while OPEN Acrylic Medium will produce a more fluid mixture. Both are a gloss finish & are available in 4oz & 8oz jars. The third additive, OPEN Thinner, is used to maintain & adjust the workability of colors without the use of water.
