The Basic Needs
Spring is here & Summer is near &
the kids will soon be out of school. Give them an option to TV &
video games this year with some of our many products for young
artists.
Clay

We have a great variety of sculpting
materials for young people. Sculpey Eraser Clay has been wildly popular. Kids can use it to make real erasers in their
favorite shapes. They become solid by baking them in your oven. Crayola
Model Magic Buddie Builders are reminiscent of Mr. Potato Head.
Each kit comes with 6 packs of air dry clay and plastic "body"
parts to make 3 different characters.

EZ Shape Clay is a wax based
pigmented clay that never hardens. It is the perfect clay for the budding
claymation artist in your family. All of these clay items are suitable
for toddlers and up.

Crayons

We stock a huge assortment of materials for
young artists to create amazing drawings and paintings. Creamy
Crayons by Dong-A, a staff favorite, are perfect
for making expressive marks. Unlike the hard waxy crayons of the 20th
century, Creamy Crayons are made from hardened gel, glide smoothly onto
the paper and are washable.

Paint

We have lots of paint options -- like the 8-ounce
bottles of Sargent’s washable glitter paint for
only $2.75, Speedball’s Speedy Pete washable
watercolor tubes and the new glitter and metallic watercolor
from Prang. For the youngest ones we have large pots
of finger paint for only $2.89.

Papers

Kids have their own options for painting and
drawing surfaces. From those local geniuses at 3M,
we have Post-It pads, rolls and best of all a portable
easel. Just Draw, Peel and Stick! Strathmore makes a complete line of pads for kids. From Mirage Paper we carry a full range of sketch and watercolor pads with a quality paper
that will enhance your child’s artwork.

Activity Kits

Need a complete easy-to-make project?
Wet Paint has lots! Most of the kits in this
category come with all the supplies needed to make an art object. They
are perfect for a rainy day at home or in the cabin. Creativity
for Kids kits offer a wide variety of subjects for many age
levels. Some of our favorite projects include Bobble Head Dogs,
Alarm Clocks, Sun Catchers and the Mosaic Tile Tray.
Klutz continues to be a great
resource for creative young minds. Our selection ranges from Airplane
folding to Friendship bracelets. A summer favorite is the Jacquard
Tie-Dye kit that makes up to 15 shirts. (Shirts are not included.) Mosaics and Claybord Box kits are
great projects for the more sophisticated young artisan. Mosaics require
a little more skill and some supervision.

Outside

For the nice summer days we have Nature
Print Paper and Sidewalk Paint. Use the sun
to create negative prints of leaves and other objects on Nature Print
Paper. Sidewalk Paint is a newer addition to the ever-popular Sidewalk
Chalk for the driveway artist.

Coloring Books

Pick up some of our highly detailed coloring
books for quiet rainy day activities. Dover has great
designs ranging from animals to ogres. Local sources supply the Mindware and Kendall Bohn books of mazes, hidden creatures and
dinosaurs.

The Basic Needs

And naturally, Wet Paint stocks all the standard
art supplies for kids -- paint-by-numbers, tempera, brushes,
pens, pencils, crayons, glues and scissors, including “parent-friendly”
items such as retractable markers, numerous “washable” products,
and a handy kid’s smock from Sargent.

And JUST IN as we go to press: Our new “Big
Pencil” display of Faber Castell art materials for young
people!

Wet Paint is mostly known for our huge selection
for the fine artist. Van Gogh and Monet were kids once but they didn't have the same variety of supplies available
to our kids. Give them something different this summer. Let them make
a mess and have some creative fun.
And who knows?-- The next master artist
just might be your 8 year old!
