In celebration of Beth Bergman’s 20-year ownership
of Wet Paint, longtime customer and friend Kate
Meyers, director of the aND Gallery, invited
the staff of the store to participate in a group show at the gallery.
While it’s long been known that everyone working at Wet Paint
makes art, there has never before been the opportunity to view the works
by these artists together, and this anniversary seemed an appropriate
time to present such an exhibition. The work of twenty-two artists will
be presented, including every current staff member and seven “alumni”
who previously worked at the store.
As you can see from the reproductions on the web
tour, the art reflects a diversity of ideas, approaches and media,
as well as the very different personalities of the people who have worked
at Wet Paint over the past 20 years. Some of the artists exhibit regularly,
while others view their art as a more private, personal endeavor. Some
are artists who have worked professionally for years, while others are
students just starting out.
There’ll be an opening reception on May 20th.
We hope you’ll stop in the gallery and take a look. And stop in
