New Products from the National Art Materials Trade Association!
In addition to certifying art materials professionals (see previous article), NAMTA also hosts an annual trade show where suppliers from all around the world present fantastic new products. Here are some of the things you should start watching for at Wet Paint in the upcoming months:
DRAWING
We have added the complete line of Schmincke soft pastels, plus some nice stuff from Cretacolor: sepia and sanguine Drawing Powders, Chunky colored charcoal sticks in open stock and the mysterious Aqua Brique, a tablet style water-soluble crayon.

PAINT
We are awaiting displays of the new and improved formulation of Sennelier oil paint, Winsor & Newton Artists’ Watercolor in huge 37ml tubes and the new Steven Quiller Acrylics and Quiller Mediums (and sets) from Jack Richeson (to go with the Daniel Greene oils, also from Richeson, and the Old Holland New Masters acrylics -- both of which are featured in articles in this newsletter).
BRUSHES
Some old favorites are returning and will be joined shortly by some nifty new brushes. The Raphael Kevrin brushes are coming back; these fine mongoose brushes are a fantastic sable substitute available again in long handled varieties. As mentioned on our Big Bargains page, daVinci has new, retractable travel brushes this spring. They also have Chungking bristle extra short brights (think scrubbing and reducing) for oil painting and Vario-Tip, a blend of daVinci Top-Acryl and Nova filaments in different lengths for parallel line and multi-textured effects for all media.
PADS
One of our favorites, Kunst & Papier, will be sending us some fabulous new journals (as well as portfolios and a deluxe pencil sharpener). Some time this summer Wet Paint will welcome the new journals from Savoir Faire: “Wool-La-La” (they’re wool covers…pretty!). New pads and blocks for acrylic, pastel and multi-media will be arriving from Magnani, too, as should new styles of Moleskine and Global Art Journals.
PAPER
Watch for Chinese printed papers and bookcloth from Yumei, scrap bundles and origami from St. Armand and paper samplers and origami from Japanese Paper Place.
WHERE WILL WE PUT IT ALL?!
Even though it seems like we couldn’t possibly find space for one more thing, we’re also expecting a comprehensive selection of manga screens and patterns from Holbein, clear bags for greeting cards and storage from Impact, extra large portfolios for carrying canvases from Cargo Bags, new studio furniture and light boxes from Artograph, new fine writing instruments and an expanded selection of Pitt Brush Pens from Faber Castell and cute ‘push-up’ mannequins, too!

The Rubber Stamps File
We’re excited to announce the arrival of a new rubber stamp line at Wet Paint ... Putting on the Ritz stamps - designed, and in most cases hand-drawn, by artist Jeri Grazier - feature delightful vintage-style illustrations of ladies fashion, Art Nouveau & Art Deco design, whimsical children & their stuffed toys, and numerous vintage & contemporary images of travel destinations. They’ve even included a few Minnesota wonders in the collection. All stamps are entirely made in Oregon and Washington from premium materials.
