The Legendary Moleskine
Wow. We have been overwhelmed by the response to our introduction of
the Moleskine line of notebooks, sketchbooks and pocket
books to Wet Paint. Few makers of journals can claim
the credibility of Moleskine. Popular amongst the foremost intellectual
and artistic circles of the last century, these notebooks were used
by writers and artists such as Ernest Hemingway, Henri Matisse,
Oscar Wilde, and Vincent van Gogh.
The attraction to these reasonably priced books is easy to understand.
They are well-made, simple in design and contain excellent paper for
drawing and writing. Their size makes them portable and discrete. Bound
inside a stiff black cover of oilskin cloth, they contain a marking
ribbon, a handy inside pocket, and an outside band. (We also have the pocketbooks: sweet little organizers for various notes,
receipts and business cards.) We carry the sketchbooks and notebooks in both large and small sizes.

Ernest Hemingway used a Moleskine notebook
when he wrote THE SUN ALSO RISES.
It was pretty and black and had flat,
smooth pages and a soft dark band that
kept it closed when it rained.

One of the Moleskine notebooks we’d most like to read is that
of
André Breton (1916), kept in the library of Paul Eluard, with
an
ex libris drawn by Max Ernst.

Other famous Moleskine users have included Henri Matisse, Oscar Wilde,
Louis-Ferdinand Celine and Bruce Chatwin.
