| COLD WAX MEDIUM |
 |
COLD WAX MEDIUM 4OZ / 16OZ
Cold Wax Medium can be used as an impasto
and a glazing medium. It has a matte finish, and can also be used as
a protective coating. Wet Paint carries two types of cold wax mediums. Gamblin’s cold wax is made from bee wax and mineral
spirits (Gamsol) It should be used in limited
amounts on inflexible surfaces in order wax to prevent cracking.
Cold Wax Medium can be used to make oil colors thicker and more matte. A soft paste formulated to knife consistency, Cold Wax Medium is made from naturally white unbleached beeswax. Use a small amount to make Galkyds more matte. Cold Wax Medium doesnt contain oil so it can be applied as a wax varnish over dry oil paintings.

GALKYDS
|
Galkyd is made from Alkyd resin by Gamblin. It dries very fast and is great for glazing.
This medium can be used as an alterative to traditional Stand
oil / Dammar / Turpentine painting medium. There are different
varieties of Galkyds highlighted below. Over all it will add gloss and
clarity of color to a painting. Similar effects can be had using Stand
Oil.
- Galkyd: fast drying; high cohesion; great
leveling properties
- Galkyd Lite: low viscosity; fast drying-medium
cohesion; will show brush strokes
- Galkyd Slow Dry: slow drying; low cohesion;
great level properties

GALKYD LITE PAINTING MEDIUM 2OZ / 8OZ / 16OZ
Galkyd Lite (Low Viscosity) is an alkyd resin medium with a low viscosity that is very similar to a traditional dammar/refined linseed oil/turpentine painting medium. Glazes made with Galkyd Lite look less glossy than those made with traditional mediums or Galkyd. Galkyd Lite is perfect for painters who prefer a lighter painting medium or want a longer working time. Thin layers are ready to paint over within 24 hours. Thins with Gamsol.

GALKYD PAINTING MEDIUM 2OZ / 8OZ / 16OZ / 32OZ
Galkyd is an alkyd resin medium that increases the fluidity of oil colors and speeds their drying time. Thin layers of oil colors are dry in 24 hours. Using Galkyd will level brush strokes, create a strong flexible paint film and leave an enamel-like glossy finish. Ready to use, Galkyd can be thinned with odorless mineral spirits. Galkyds make excellent glazing mediums. Product cannot be shipped by air transport.

GAMSOL |
 |
GAMSOL 16OZ / 32OZ / GALLON
Gamsol (Odorless Mineral Spirits) is an excellent solvent for thinning Gamblin mediums, as well as for general painting. Excellent for studio and brush cleanup. Gamsol has a flashpoint of 145 degrees F and PEL 300. Product cannot be shipped by air transport. |
GAMVAR |
 |
GAMVAR 5.4 OZ
Gamvar Picture Varnish is a low molecular weight synthetic resin varnish developed by conservation scientists at the National Gallery. One package is enough varnish for 8 x 10 square feet of oil or acrylic paintings. Can also be used for retouch. Product cannot be shipped by air transport.

GLUES |
 |
POLYVINYL ACETATE SIZE 8 FL OZ / 32 FL OZ
PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) Size is a contemporary size for fabric support. On linen and canvas, it will not re-absorb atmospheric moisture that eventually causes swelling and shrinking, and ultimately, paint cracking. PVA Size retains its flexibility. Its neutral pH means that it will not yellow. |
 |
RABBIT SKIN GLUE 1LB
Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. A strong adhesive, atmospheric changes may result in movement causing aged oil paintings to crack. |
LINSEED OIL |
 |
COLD PRESSED LINSEED OIL 2OZ / 8OZ / 16OZ
Cold Pressed Linseed Oil is produced from the cold pressing of flax seeds without using heat or chemicals of any kind. Increases tendency of oil paints to yellow over time when used to thin oil colors. Product cannot be shipped by air transport. |
 |
REFINED LINSEED OIL 2OZ / 8OZ / 16OZ / 32OZ
Refined Linseed Oil is a naturally occurring vegetable oil pressed from American flax seeds. It is as light and pure as industrially produced linseed oil can be made. Use in moderation to thin oil or as an ingredient in traditional painting mediums. Product cannot be shipped by air transport.
|
 |
LINSEED STAND OIL 8OZ
Linseed Stand Oil is a heat-bodied, heavy oil that leaves an enamel-like finish. It is made by heating
oil to about 300C (570F) in the absence of oxygen. This heavy-bodied, slow drying oil is a good leveler.

POPPY OIL |
 |
POPPY OIL 8OZ
Poppy Oil has a slow drying time that is useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume, Poppy Oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums.
Poppy seed oil is extracted from
poppy seeds. It is pale in color and will not yellow with age. Because
of this quality it is used as a binder for whites and light colors.
Gamblin's Radiant White uses poppy
oil.
It dries very slowly (15 to 20days), which is why it isn’t generally
used for all color.

NEO MEGILP |
 |
NEO-MEGILP MEDIUM 2OZ / 8OZ / 16OZ
Neo Megilp is made with an Alkyd resin base.
It is Gamblin’s answer to toxic black oil. Unlike
Black oil, Neo Megilp will dry very fast without becoming brittle or
darkening. It is a great glazing medium.
Neo Megilp gives body to paint, decreases viscosity, and can produce a luminous Turner-like atmosphere, suspending and supporting paint in a soft, silky gel. Made from contemporary materials, it will not darken or become brittle. Neo Megilp allows paint to be workable for hours.

The Story of Gamblin
The story of Gamblin Artists Colors Company is well known. Painter Robert Gamblin was so committed to the quality of oil paint he was using in his own paintings that he started making his own paint in his garage. This was not a casual undertaking. Robert devoted the entire first year solely to perfecting the formulas for white paint! His efforts were particularly focused on removing the most toxic elements from the oil painter’s studio.
Gamblin was the first to develop a replacement for lead white paint, and his Gamsol solvent sets the industry standard for permissible exposure level. Over 25 years after his first forays into color making, Robert Gamblin’s oil paint & mediums are some of the best known, and best selling, ranges at Wet Paint.
Lesser known, perhaps, are Gamblin’s contributions to artists’ education. The Gamblin color chart is divided into mineral & organic colors; a separation that clearly divides the warmer, opaque colors from the predominantly cooler, transparent ones. This deceptively simple format allows the artist to make informed color choices based on their needs. A review of the Gamblin color system has prompted more than one Wet Paint employee to remark that they had just learned more about color in ten minutes than in four years of art school!
Since so much has been written about Gamblin (the man & the company) over the years, Pete Cole, President of Gamblin Artists Colors Co, wanted to share a few anecdotes that you may not have heard: “Gamblin’s commitment to studio safety & environmental sustainability takes many forms,” says Mr. Cole. “Last year, Gamblin gave away over 15,000 tubes of Torrit Grey, our unique oil color made from the artists’ pigment reclaimed from our filtration system. Also, our employees log over 25, 000 miles annually on bicycle or public transportation, rather than driving to work.”
Out of Robert’s passion for painting & paint making has grown a responsible, progressive company that honors the past while continually breaking new ground. |
