About GOLDEN Artist Colors Fluid Acrylic
Golden Fluid Acrylics are highly intense, permanent acrylic colors with a consistency similar to heavy cream. Produced from lightfast pigments, not dyes, they offer very strong colors with very thin consistencies. No fillers or extenders are added and the pigment load is comparable to Golden Heavy Body Acrylics.
Unlike mixtures of heavy-bodied paints and water which produce weak color washes and films by dilution, Fluid Acrylics contain high pigment levels suspended in an acrylic polymer vehicle. The result offers fine dispersion, high tinting strength, durability, flexibility and good adhesion.
Fluid Acrylics are ideal for spraying, brushing, staining and watercolor effects. They can be mixed with other Golden products.

Historical Fluid Acrylic Hues
The mystique of tradition meets the dynamic diversity of GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics. Golden Artist Colors, Inc. introduces a selection of Historical Colors, previously offered only in the GOLDEN Heavy Body line, to the GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics.
GOLDEN Historical Colors are authentic recreations of paint colors that have
been in use for hundreds of years & were considered essential to the working
palettes of past masters. As the pigments originally used to produce these colors
were found to be unsafe or vulnerable to the effects of light & weather, they
had not been offered in a GOLDEN line of pure pigment colors. Recognizing the
popularity of these colors within some palettes, GOLDEN has recreated these in
a safe, reliable form, meeting the conservation requirements of fine artists. Great
pains were taken to ensure the GOLDEN Historical Colors shared the working
properties of their predecessors. The result? Contemporary artists can now
explore the profoundly distinct qualities of historically significant colors while
enjoying the advantages brought about by modern chemistry: lightfastness, safe use & permanence.

Fluid Acrylic Interference Color
GOLDEN's fluid Interference Acrylic colors offer a unique "interference flip." When viewed from difference perspectives,
Interference colors flip between a bright opalescent color & its complement. When applied over white or lighter
surfaces, the Interference color is less obvious & the "flip" effect is more obvious. When applied over black or
darker surfaces, the Interference color is more obvious & the "flip" effect is less obvious. Most GOLDEN
Interference colors are available in two varieties: Coarse & Fine. They offer artists a range of reflective properties
& interplay with light.
Interference colors are relatively transparent, allowing artists the ability to glaze with unique effects. Enhance landscapes with Interference Blue or Interference Green. Add life to wildlife artwork with Interference Red or
Interference Violet. Combine Interference colors with small amounts of color to achieve unique color ranges. Add gels for impasto effects or thin with mediums for glazing applications. Add a very small amount of black to Interference colors to
produce deeper, richer, opalescent effects.

Fluid Acrylic Iridescent Colors
GOLDEN Iridescent Acrylics are one of the most unique products available to artists today. They offer highly
reflective metallic variations when mixed with GOLDEN colors. The GOLDEN Iridescent colors achieve their reflective properties by synthetically reproducing several natural phenomena - the nacreous, or pearlescent, qualities found in fish scales or the dust of a butterfly's wing, & the shiny & reflective qualities found in certain
metals & minerals.
"Coarse" Iridescent colors are simply larger particle size versions of GOLDEN's "Fine" Iridescent products. All of GOLDEN's Iridescent colors produce a luster quality by themselves, or when mixed with other colors & mediums. The GOLDEN line of Iridescents can be separated into 3 groups based on chemical composition.
Group I: These colors are derived from mica platelets. They are then coated with an extremely thin layer of titanium dioxide. Refraction & reflection of light at the titanium dioxide layers produces various colors & pearlescent effects. Group 1 pigments include Iridescent Pearl.
Group II: These colors are also derived from mica platelets, but an iron oxide coating causes Group II pigments to possess hues in addition to pearlescent qualities. This group includes Iridescent Gold, Iridescent Copper & Copper Light & Iridescent Bronze.
Group III: A third group consists of reflective colorants that do not fit the above descriptions, including highly metallic pigments. This group includes Stainless Steel, Micaceous Iron Oxide, & Mica Flakes (all varieties).
Matte Fluids
GOLDEN Matte Fluids are specially formulated paints that provide provide a uniform flat finish in a wide variety of concentrated colors. Matte Fluids are thicker than traditional Golden Fluid Acrylics, but are made to self-level. This nature allows for more uniform films without brushstrokes. Matte Fluids have a low sheen and better overall opacity than Fluid Acrylics, making them ideal for traditional applications such as tempera and gouache.
