 Lascaux Aquacryl is unusually versatile and easy to apply. It is suitable not only for traditional watercolor techniques but also for transparent color application on large formats. It consists of finely dispersed, pure, lightfast pigments and a water-soluble, age-resistant acrylic resin. It dries to a velvety-matte finish in any concentration, durably preserving the richness and intensity of the color.
Lascaux Aquacryl is highly concentrated, highly viscous and high-yielding. In thin applications, it dries in such a manner that individual layers can be over painted without dissolving the previously applied ones. Conversely, thick color layers can be partially dissolved to produce washes. It can be used directly or diluted on water colour paper as well as on virtually any rigid or flexible absorbent substrate. It is applied with brushes, airbrush systems and many other painting tools.
Lascaux Aquacryl is available in a well balanced assortment of 25 colours including eight pure, transparent transoxides sold in convenient dispenser bottles. Lascaux Aquacryl can be transformed into a genuine transparent acrylic color by adding Lascaux acrylic mediums. The blends are water-resistant, can be overpainted, and have yielded exceptional results on murals. Conforms to ASTM D-4236.
Hues can be modified with Aquacryl Matte Medium. Because this medium is based on the same binder as Lascaux Aquacryl, the modified colors remain resoluble.
