Product Description

These dip pens have a folded nib for smooth writing on textured or uneven surfaces. Set of 4 different pen widths.
What is a Witch's Pen? One theory is that it was derived from a loose translation of the name of a township in England known as Hackpen Hill. William Mitchell was founded in 1825 just North of Hackpen Hill, which had already established itself to local storytellers as a place of ritual and lore. However, being that written text was not that commonplace, most of these stories were passed along by word of mouth. Originally, the hill was called Hakpen, thought to come from the Arabic word haic or serpent, and the English word pen or enclosed space or fold. To the storytellers, Hakpen, became Hackpen, but not before being known as Hag Pen, or Witch's Pen, rather than the Serpent Fold. The most distinct feature of the William Mitchell Witch Pen, aside from the name, is the head of the pen itself. Made of a single, folded piece of metal split similar to a serpent's tongue, the unique nib allows the pen(s) to glide along uneven surfaces and textured papers without the need for potions and spells.
