"For the last 5 years I have been ordering the 2D supplies for St. Olaf College. Each year I become more educated on the variety of products and possibilities through my conversations with colleagues, students and the amazing staff at Wet Paint. Three times a year as I inventory and unpack our supplies I find myself drawn to certain materials in our repertoire.

I began to collect scraps of paper from the recycle bin, mainly Yupo and Duralar Matte. In some way they both remind me of the porcelain I use in my own studio. I stockpiled a variety of product samples from Wet Paint too. Finally, I bought an Aquabee sketchbook and a selection of Faber-Castell Pitt Artist and Pigma Micron Pens.
I have always been a 3D artist. However, as a new mother with an injured husband I found myself in desperate need of an outlet that was easier to put down at a seconds notice. I turned to my collection of materials for an answer. I wound up doing more sketching and drawing than ever before. This was an easy and direct way to explore imagery. This practice became a form of meditation and helped me formulate my new body of sculptural work.

The work I create from the wonderful products in Wet Paint's inventory may remain tucked away in my sketchbook. Even there they are still an important part of my creative outlet and thought process."
