Roz Stendahl

Roz Stendahl is a Minneapolis-based graphic designer, illustrator, and book artist whose passion for paper and art materials has supported (or caused) a life-long journal practice. She has been an arts educator since the 1980s both in the public schools and with a variety of organizations. Roz spends her free time binding journals and rallying others to join sketch outs at locations such as Como Zoo, the Bell Museum, and of course the Minnesota State Fair. She believes that observation and sketching allow us greater access to our creativity. Roz is an award winning artist who exhibits nationally and shares her art adventures on her blog RozWoundUp. You can also see Roz' other product recommendations right here at her Bloggers' Picks page.

"I love Schmincke Gouache because it has a high pigment load and is made without opacifying agents. You can use it for light delicate washes in the manner of transparent watercolors or you can apply it in the traditional opaque manner.

The large selection of single-pigment paints makes mixing dazzling colors a snap. This paint also rewets easily and quickly so it is perfect for use in making your own pan palette for travel."
